Believe

Believe in Him - Believe in Yourself

John 3:18 NIV
  " Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son"

God desires to heal His people from past hurts caused by rejection. He wants you to know He will never reject you. He says in Matthew 11:28, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (NKJV). This is referring to those who are laboring at trying to be perfect and then beating themselves down with guilty feelings when they fail.

 Jesus was talking to the people who were trying to live under the laws of the Pharisees. It takes a lot to please a Pharisee, and they're still around today.

I'm sure you know one, someone who conveys to you the message, "I'll accept you if you perform perfectly and please me. I'll reject you and withhold my love if you don't."

Jesus isn't a Pharisee. He says in John 3:18 that he who believes in Him will never be rejected. Believe in Him, love Him, cling to Him, rely on Him and trust Him. Then you can truly enter in to the joy of the abundant life He offers you.

Working Your Faith

Work Your Faith - Exercise The Truth

Acts 24:16 KJV
 "And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void to offence toward God, and toward men.."

It is two very different things to know the truth and to exercise - to put into motion - what you know to be the truth. We need to start exercising those truths.

We can know that physical exercise is good for our body and that would be "true". However, just to know it's true isn't enough. If you want to see results, then you must put that truth into motion. As one exercises their body, there will be a change.

If you are looking for change in your life or looking to see a change in someone else - peace, joy, blessings, etc. - it's time to start exercising the truths that you know.

Let's read what James has to say about it:

James 2:14 - 26 NIV
Faith Without Works (Deeds) Is Dead

14  What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them?
15  Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food.
16  If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?
17  In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
18  But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.
19  You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.
20  You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless?
21  Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?
22  You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did.
23  And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend.
24  You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.
25  In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction?
26  As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

Focus on consistently exercising Scripture in your life every day - day after day. It's one thing to know a truth, but another thing (and an essential thing) to put it into practice through exercise - through "works".

So, what do you say we put on our work clothes! It's time to be moving and be putting feet on our faith and prayer life. Amen?

Stay in The Safe Zone

Life in the Boundaries

Proverbs 3:1-6 NKJV
1 My son, do not forget my law, But let your heart keep my commands;
2 For length of days and long life And peace they will add to you.
3 Let not mercy and truth forsake you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart,
4 And so find favor and high esteem In the sight of God and man.
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Exercising self-control and self-discipline, and establishing boundaries and borders in our life are some of the most important things we can do. A life that has no discipline is one that is filled with carelessness and heartache.

The Word of God establishes the necessary boundaries to keep us in God's safety zone. It tells us what we can do, and what we better not do, in order to be safe.

As Christians - much like the rest of the world - we can think it's kind of exciting to live life on the edge. We like the image of "Yeah! That's me! Living on the edge!" It's become a popular way of looking at life. But to be honest, God doesn't want us living on the edge, because if we're living on the edge, then we have no margin for error. Not to mention that it's stressful and stress stills your Joy.

Let me put it another way to bring "life on the edge" and "living outside God's boundaries" more into focus.

Highways have painted lines, one on each side and one in the center. These lines provide margins for our safety while we're driving. They didn't just put them there because they had nothing better to do. If we go over the line on one side of the road, the best case scenario is that we would probably just run into a ditch. The worst is that we could hit a walking pedestrian or bicyclist, men working on the roadways or a broken down automobile.

If we cross over the line in the middle, the best we can hope for is that there are no oncoming automobiles at all or that we simply side swipe another car resulting only in damages to both vehicles. Statistics tell us though that the odds are that we are going to hit another car head on; in which case we and the other driver could get killed or at least seriously injured. The point being is that we like those lines being on the road because they help to keep us safe and they help us to feel safe while we are driving.

It's like that in our personal lives, too. When we have boundaries, borders, and margins, we feel much better; we feel safer and as a result we experience God's peace and security.

The key is to go to God's Word, where He has laid out all of the lines, all of the boundaries, all of the margins - everything we need  - to live by.

Read His Word. Let God direct your path every day; not just once in awhile. It is so much safer, so much less stressful when you do.

Cross my heart !

These Are a Few of My Favorite Things ...

Keeper of The Promises

I Thessalonians 4:13-18
13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep.
16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
18 Therefore comfort one another with these words

* * *

John 14:1-3
1 "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.
2 In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

* * *

I Corinthians 15:51-53
51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed—
52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

* * *

Philippians 3:20-21
20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,
21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.

* * *

I Corinthians 1:7-8
7 so that you come short in no gift, eagerly waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,
8 who will also confirm you to the end, that you may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

* * *

Romans 8:19
19 For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.

* * *

Colossians 3:4
4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.

* * *

I Thessalonians 1:10
10 and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.

* * *

I Thessalonians 2:19
19 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming?

* * *

I Thessalonians 5:9
9 For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,

* * *

I Thessalonians 5:23
23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

* * *

2 Thessalonians 2:1
1 Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you,

* * *

I Timothy 6:14
14 that you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ's appearing,

* * *

2 Timothy 4:1
1 I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead £at His appearing and His kingdom:

* * *

2 Timothy 4:8
8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.

* * *

Titus 2:13
13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,

* * *

Hebrews 9:28
28 so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.

* * *

James 5:7-9
7 Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain.
8 You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.
9 Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned. Behold, the Judge is standing at the door!

* * *

I Peter 1:7,13
7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,
13 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

* * *

I Peter 5:4
4 and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.

* * *

I John 2:28,29 - 3:1,2
28 And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.
29 If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him.

1 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is

* * *

Jude 21
21 keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

* * *

Revelation 2:25
25 But hold fast what you have till I come.

* * *

Revelation 3:10
10 Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.

* * *

Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!

JOY

Contentment and Joy

Psalms 16:5-11  NKJV

5  O Lord, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup;
     You maintain my lot.

6  The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places;
     Yes, I have a good inheritance.

7  I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel;
     My heart also instructs me in the night seasons.

8  I have set the Lord always before me;
     Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.

9  Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices;
     My flesh also will rest in hope.

10  For You will not leave my soul in Sheol,
        Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.

11  You will show me the path of life;
        In Your presence is fullness of joy;
        At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

David's heart was glad - he had found the secret to joy. True joy is far deeper than happiness; we can feel joy in spite of our deepest troubles.

Happiness is temporary because it is based on external circumstances, but joy is lasting because it is based on God's presence within us.

As we contemplate His daily presence, we will find contentment. As we understand the future He has for us, we will experience joy.

Don't base your life on circumstances, but on God. Your circumstances will change but God never will.

Who Am I?

The Journey to Me

“You will show me the path of life.” Psalm 16:11

The Lord led the Psalmist David on an incredible journey. In Psalm 16:11, David said God had shown him “The path of life.” This path led him from his earthly father’s house to God’s Kingdom- and of course towards fulfilling his purpose as king of Israel.

David declared in Psalm 23:6 that he would dwell in the house of the Lord forever. You had/have your earthly father’s house and you have your Heavenly Father’s house where you live out the purpose God created you for. You earthly father's house is the place of preparation for life. Your Heavenly Father's House is the place where you live out your full identity and purpose for being born. However, many people have not yet discovered the joy of living and operating in their full identity and purpose.

* Study the following Scriptures and determine if you are living in the past or the future that God has for you:

Galatians 4:1

1 Corinthians 13:11

Jeremiah 6:14

Luke 4:18

Heb 3:7- 8

Hebrews 3: 9-10

Eph 2:2-3

* Study the follow Scriptures and see that living in future that God has for you means you are operating in your purpose.

You will know God as Father - 1 John 5:20

You will know what it means to be a son or daughter -1 John 4:6

You will know His love -1 John 4-7-8

You will know how to dwell in His love -1 John 4 12-18

You will understand what it means to be chosen for a specific purpose -Eph 1:4-5

You will know the leading of the Holy Spirit - Romans 8:14-17

You will know what it means to be an Heir - Eph 5:1-7

You will understand what living in purpose requires - Eph 1:1, Eph 4:1

You will have a seat at the table “Seated in Heavenly Places” - Eph 1:20, 2:6

You’re true Identity will be revealed - Eph 1:5, Galatians 4:5

* Take the time to look up these scriptures and apply them to your life.

Have You Discovered Your True Identity?

Everyone is born with a desire to know what God had in mind when He created them. This leads to two questions, “Who am I?” and “What is my purpose?” These two questions apply to every race, gender, and generation. Every person that desires to discover their true identity must find the answer to these questions. Some people ask and some don’t. Instead of asking they quietly seek for the answers but all the while the deep longing causes them so much unrest. They may strive, over-work and over-achieve trying to get a sense of worth. But without a revelation of our own identity we cannot have the peace and satisfaction that comes as our destiny unfolds.

Have you come to a peace about your true identity?  If not, ask God to open the eyes of your understanding so you can fully see and embrace who God created you to be. He has given you a unique identity, but you must press in to a deeper relationship with Him to discover it. God may be waiting on you to embrace your identity so that He can promote you in His Kingdom and reveal you as His own.

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. Romans 8:28-30

Dearest Father God,

I  long to know my true identity and purpose. Help me as I read these scriptures, to know if I am still stuck in the past and to learn how to operate in the purpose and plan that You have for me. My desire is to receive Your full blessing as Your son/daughter. Lead me along the Path of Life as you did King David. Thank You that I am uniquely and wonderfully made and that You have a plan and a purpose for my life. I admit that I have struggled with knowing who I am, why I am here and with knowing my identify and purpose. Today, Lord, open the eyes of my understanding to fully see and to embrace who You created me to be. I want to walk in Your will, plan and purpose for my life.

In Jesus Name, Amen

~ LUKE ~

~Luke~ Physician & Quiet Quillman

Luke 1

1  Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us,

2  just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word.

3  Therefore, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, it seemed good also to me to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus,

4  so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.

Dear Luke ...

Did a tear drop onto Luke's papyrus as he wrote? Did it smudge ink as he reminisced on Mary's words and in his distant mind hear a cooing baby Jesus?

Maybe Luke worked deep into the nights.

Maybe the candlelight's flicker brought ambience to every recollection as Luke lingered over his notes and penned the most beautiful Gospel, one of the most beautiful books ever written.

Maybe the crackle of his fire reminded him of the one that warmed the precious Infant.

Surely Luke smiled when his stylus scripted across the sheet. The thoughts of Jesus, a newborn crying His arrival into the world He would save, must have been overwhelming.

How do you write with goosebumps?

Some sixty years after Jesus’ birth, Luke recorded for eternity the most eloquent, detailed account of the conception, birth, childhood, and ministry of our Lord. 24 Chapters total.

Luke likely labored over his work for months, writing from his notes and the Holy Spirit's prompting. The results are the third Gospel and the book of Acts, a record of the inception and growth of the Christian Church.

We know so little about Luke.

Yet we know all we need.

There are only three references to him in the Bible:

Colossians 4:14;
14 Our dear friend Luke, the doctor, and Demas send greetings

2 Timothy 4:11;
11 Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and bring him with you, because he is helpful to me in my ministry

Philemon 1:24;
24 And so do Mark, Aristarchus, Demas and Luke, my fellow workers

But through them and his writing style we can sketch a glimpse of the man whom God used to write more words of the New Testament than anyone else.

He was a Gentile, a Greek.

He was a close traveling companion of Paul, perhaps his closest, a physician beloved by Paul. (Colossians 4:14)

Luke no doubt shared in Paul's persecutions and trials, all the while repeatedly doctoring the mighty apostle to recovery.

Tradition holds that Luke was a native of Antioch and that he died unmarried and childless at the age of eighty-four.

He is believed to have written each of his books while Paul was imprisoned, first in Caesarea and finally in Rome.

That is where Paul wrote the most telling of words:
“Only Luke is with me” (2 Timothy 4:11).

Luke was a Greek writing to fellow Gentiles, reassuring them that Christ came for all mankind.

Luke's work is unique in that it emphasizes the manhood of Jesus in all its perfection, purity, splendor, and sublimity.

Jesus was the model for us all.

The Gospel of Luke displays a keen interest in individuals, social outcasts, women, children, and social relationships, especially situations involving poverty or wealth. These features tell us something about Luke as a person and his unique understanding of Christianity.

The famous “we” passages beginning in Acts 16:10 reveal that Luke was eyewitness to much of Paul's ministry. Yet Luke makes clear in the introduction of the book of Luke that he was not witness to the events of his Gospel but had “investigated everything carefully from the beginning” (v. 3).

What possibilities does this statement open?

If, as most scholars agree, Luke wrote his Gospel around a.d. 60, it is possible that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was alive and about eighty years old. The captivating thought of Luke interviewing Mary is ascribed credibility by the fact that Luke lingers over the birth of Jesus like none other. He also includes a recitation of Mary's Song (Luke 1:46-55) that invokes at least twelve quotations of Old Testament Scripture. Luke's detail may have come from the very lips of Jesus’ mother.

Caesarea was only a few miles from Jerusalem, Jesus’ mother may have been still alive, at John's home in Jerusalem. Luke may have spent many precious hours with her, listening to her reminiscences of her Wondrous Son.

Respected scholar F. B. Meyer adds: “Luke dwells specially on the early incidents of our Lord's life, and some have detected in the Greek forms of sentences the direct recital of Mary as she recounted to Luke those sacred recollections which she pondered in her heart.”

Luke stressed the blessed humanity of Jesus and plights of women and children and the poor, sick, and outcast. From spending so much time with those closest to Jesus, Luke knew this is what the Lord would have wanted.

One of the most challenging elements of using the quill is finding a way to hide behind it. Luke got out of the way and allowed the Lord His rightful place out front. He served in the background, never directly referring to himself.

Luke labored without regard to himself or the persecution that raged around him. Luke was mighty in spirit because he did this by dying to self and living for the Lord whom he came to love more and more through the facts culled in interviews. He did this though his closest friend was in jail and ultimately under a death sentence.

"Only Luke is with me,” Paul says.

Nearby, Luke squinted at his notes, smiled, and picked up his stylus.

He is with us still.

Mary's Song
Luke 1:46-55 NIV

46  And Mary said: "My soul glorifies the Lord

47  and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,

48  for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed,

49  for the Mighty One has done great things for me — holy is his name.

50  His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation.

51  He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.

52  He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble.

53  He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty.

54  He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful

55  to Abraham and his descendants forever, even as he said to our fathers."

~ Safely Home ~

When our days are filled with sorrow
When there seems no hope for tomorrow,
Jesus lead us through the fire,
And lead us safely home.

When our way is filled with stones
And we feel so alone.
Jesus lead us through the fire,
And lead us safely home.

When cloud and rain appear, and we see no sun,
Clear our way and light our path. Show us you're the only one,
Jesus lead us through the fire,
And lead us safely home.

When we can't see the difference from friend or foe,
Direct us with your mighty hand and show us where to go.
Jesus lead us through the fire,
And lead us safely home.

When we finally leave this world and meet on heaven's shore
Cease our tears, still our fears, and banish our worries so we can rejoice forever more.
Jesus lead us through the fire,
And lead us safely and finally home.

What Does The Holy Word Say?

What Does the Holy Word Say?
Bible Word Study

Your Blessings Are So Many, Lord!

Your blessings are so many, Lord,
To count them one by one
Would take much longer than a day
That has just now only begun!

You fill each day with miracles
From dawn to setting sun.
Each night You hear a million prayers
When Your day's work is done.

You keep this old world spinning
As seasons come and go,
And each one is a masterpiece
That sets our hearts aglow.

You fill the earth with beauty, Lord,
With flowers, shrubs and trees,
And we marvel at Your rainbows
And butterflies and bees.

Your words still give us comfort
For Your promises are true.
Your blessings are so many, Lord,
In everything we do!

Is There A Little .....

Have you ever believed that God was there for you, even when it didn't seem like it? Then there's a little Moses in you.

Have you ever helped a friend be brave? Then there's a little Deborah in you.

Have you ever helped somebody even when nobody else wanted to help them? Then there's a little Good Samaitan in you.

Is there a little Thomas in you? Think you would've believed without proof? Hmmm.

Have you ever:

1. Wondered, even for a second, if God was really there?
2. Wished God would come to you in person so you'd be sure?

It's human to have doubts and want proof. But there are even better blessings in store when we believe without having to "see him in person." Bible Reference: John 20:24–29

Is there a little Noah in you?
People probably thought Noah was weird for being obedient.

Have you ever:
1. Given Respected to someone that looked less than respectable?
2. Befriended someone that was "different" while everybody else ignored them?
3. Been original when everyone else was mainstream?

Yes? Then you have confidence in God's instructions, just like Noah. Bible Reference: Genesis 8

Is there a little Judge in you? Think you don't judge people?

Have you ever thought:

1. You were better than somebody else because you are a Christian?
2. Thought someone wasn't really a Christian because they didn't practice their belief like you do?

We judge when we criticize people, even silently . . . especially when we're talking about God. Paul reminds us to leave the differences to God and just love each other. Bible Reference: Romans 14:10–13

Is there a little Titus in you? Have you ever advised somebody to "just say no" to any of these?

1. Fighting/Argueing
2. Gossiping
3. Cheating

If you go beyond "just say no" and help friends stay away from the un-Godly things, Titus has nothing on you. Bible Reference: Titus 2:12

YOU Getting To Know YOU !

Dear God,
Why do I make so many mistakes/mess up when I want to do right?

Like everyone, you have a gap between what you know is right and what you do. It's there because you're human, but you can ask God to help you make your gap smaller. Tell Him about the times where your actions were way different from your beliefs. Then imagine the gap being pushed together by God's power, bringing you closer to Him.

Between You... and Me...

Compassion means you feel so badly for someone you want to help him or her. Have you ever NOT had compassion for someone when you probably should have? What can you do to change so that it never happens again?

What Does The Holy Word Say?

What Does the Holy Word Say?

Bible Word Study

When the Holy Spirit move in me
It's like a well loved symphony
The timeless melody
That soothes my soul ...

Though silent I can tell
He'e alive and I am well
I feel the Holy Spirit lives In me
as He plays His silent melody ...

"For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands." Isaiah 55:12

Isn't it fascinating how creation takes time to praise our Lord?! Think about it for a minute... the wind blowing through the leaves, a bubbling brook as it moves along its way, the birds singing a song loud and clear, the crickets, frogs, waterfalls, the list could just go on... if you listen closely it is like you are hearing a Praise song to our Lord...and what a beautiful sound it is.

Now, if the VERY earth that He created takes time to Praise Him... how much more should we, His children, take the time? Praise Him in the morning, afternoon, or evening... praise Him with your words in a poem, or a song... it doesn't matter how you praise Him, as long as you take the time to Praise Him!
